MODULE DESCRIPTION (CONTENT, AIM, PREREQUISITES, COREQUISITES, LEARNING OUTCOMES, TEACHING METHOD) |
The course is a basic introduction to the concepts of specific didactic methodology in dyslexia. AIM: It is discussed the nature and management of teaching problems in students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, dysorthografia, according to the categorical taxonomic systems (DSM-V, 2013, ICD, 10). PREREQUISITES: The theoretical and practical level approaches the questions about the principles of teaching and neuro-educational learning theories and the relationships between them, emphasizing the pupil's learning and development with general and specific learning difficulties. COREQUISITES: Moreover, issues of didactic theory and methodology are examined in accordance with the principles and strategies of creating alternative projects for differentiated teaching work. Planning of teaching activities, adjustments to analytical and teaching programs, are tailored to pupils with specific learning difficulties of formal and compulsory education. CONTENT: It is also addressed in the specific learning difficulties - ''dys'' with respect to the following fields: (1) the field of perceptual skills, (2) the domain of the mnemonic skills, (3) the domain of the graphic space, (4) the basic reading skills, (5) the mathematical skills, (6) the behavioral skills. LEARNING OUTCOMES: Undergraduate students at the end of the course are able to justify why they choose a certain form of teaching, what purpose they serve, what is the content of the teaching work, which students are addressed and what their cognitive characteristics are. TEACHING METHOD: Lectures on the study and analysis of dyslexia issues with direct with a physical presence in teaching group in the classroom. Individual field exercises with micro-grouping and didactic intervention plans's case study of student with dyslexia, and with the study visits. The content of the course extends to (13) thirteen thematic units, as the below: 1.The characteristics of specific learning difficulties. 2.Training of specific learning difficulties (dyslexia). 3. Neurodevelopment regions and learning readiness. 4. Framework of the Curriculum for the Special Education (FCSE) 5.General learning difficulties according to the Analytical Programs. 6. Experimental Analytical program for the Specific Learning Difficulties - dys. 7. Drafting a Targeted Individual Structured and Integrated program for Students with Specific learning difficulties (TISIPfSLDs). 8. Lexicography and bibliographic documentation of dyslexia. 9. Detection and investigation of specific learning difficulties with emphasis the written and spoken language. 10. Teaching programs and strategies for people with dyslexia. 11. Mnemonic functions and specific reading difficulties. 12. The coexistence of dyslexia with other syndromes 13.Professional assessment of students with dyslexia.

TEACHING AND CONTACT HOURS PER WEEK (13 WEEKS) |
3 hours. The workload is 75 hours. Of these 39 hours (13 X3) are lectures, study and analysis of issues , 4 hours Field Exercise, 5 hours of project design, 2 hours of study visits, 4 hours of work writing, and 18 hours of personal study and exam preparation. The final exam is three hours.
