Sport Policies

(2024_M.O5) -  Dr. Henry, Dr. Bayle, Dr. Fan

Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

The aim of this course is to develop student knowledge and understanding of key concepts and methodologies in the analysis of, and the analysis for, sport policy, in particular in the field of international and Olympic sport. Students will engage in intellectual and methodological debates in order to develop a critical appreciation of the contribution policy analysis can make to an understanding of the aims, means and (intended and unintended) impacts of sports policy initiatives.

Students will be introduced to policy evaluation approaches such as the use of analytic logic models, their application to a wide range of policy contexts, and critical evaluation of their limitations.

Students will develop an understanding of the nature and significance of changes in the macro, meso, and micro environments and their implications for sport, and of the development of strategic and operational goals, as well as selected means of policy evaluation.
