Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

Through the module the students are introduced to the use of English for academic purposes. They are taught appropriate strategies for approaching and comprehending relatively extensive, medium difficulty authentic academic discourse related to their studies. In addition, they are taught the structure and conventions of academic discourse and learn related vocabulary and advanced grammatical and syntactic structures. At the same time, students develop their content knowledge and study skills. In addition, emphasis is placed on teaching the principles of text summarization, paragraphing, linguistic features of academic discourse and bibliographic reference. Throughout the module, extensive use is made of e-class and the Internet. In addition, students are requested to read one book for which supportive material is provided by the instructor and to make a presentation of a project in groups or individually.
